How Are Mini Excavators Grouped?
Mini excavators are generally grouped into size classes by their weight. 17 and 18 mini excavators typically weigh 2 tons or less; mini excavators in the 30-45 size class usually weigh between 3 and 4.5 tons; 55 and 57 mini excavators weigh between 5-6 tons; and mini excavators in the 80-85 size class typically weigh between 8 and 9 tons.
Please note that the larger the size of the mini excavator, the bigger the bucket will be.

Mini Excavators Model Size 17 & 18
Mini excavators in the 17 & 18 size range are great for indoor projects, yardwork, digging shallow trenches, leveling the ground, transporting awkward materials, and removing asphalt.

Mini excavators in the 30 & 33 & 35 size range are great for digging foundations for non-commercial structures, digging deep trenches, demolishing small structures, transporting heavy materials, and clearing land.

Mini excavators in the 55 & 57 size range are great for digging deep trenches, backfilling, digging foundations for homes and small commercial structures, demolishing small buildings, clearing worksites, and removing stumps, large rocks, and rubble.

Mini excavators in the 80 & 85 size range are great for digging roadside ditches, dredging waterways, installing septic tanks and driveways, creating and maintaining large trails, and transporting large or awkward materials.
